Unique alternative to certain pesticides. Reflective character shown to disorient certain insects. Studies have shown reduced insect population on plants, resulting in better fruit.
A great innovation, this thin (0.75 mil.) but strong mulch is actually silver on one side and black on the other. The reflective character of the silver side seems to confuse certain insects possibly relating to the light reflection off the mulch disorienting them. The insects thus move on to other areas. In university experiments on melons, squash
and cukes, the population of aphids (which vector or carry viruses) were reduced on the plants, thus contributing to reduced viral infection. Of course, the direct effects of reduced insect populations is clear: Plants are able to grow more vigorously, producing better fruit.
