We grew Rio Carnival, a short pot-type sunflower, in our trials last summer and agreed that it stood out among the rest of the short, dwarf varieties. Gardeners enjoy high color impact and highly branched, free flowering plants. Teardrop petals are tipped in yellow, with a rich red center and dark red disk. As a pollen-free variety, the 5-7" flowers continue to offer a clean appearance. The shrub-like habit makes Rio Carnival a great border plant, and is an excellent choice for patio containers and planters. Rio Carnival Sunflowers mature in approximately 55 days.
